Adobe MAX 2024: 100+ new features for creatives

Adobe announces new AI tools and workflows for Firefly, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator and more at the Max keynote this morning, October 14, 2024 in Miami, Florida.

Adobe Max, the conference for creatives in-person and streaming online, reveals what the teams in all product categories have been working on to make our digital work faster, easier and better. Sessions over the three-day event help photographers, cinema folks, designers and more enhance their skills with Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

Adobe Firefly video adds gen AI to Premiere Pro

Adobe Firefly, the AI image generation tool, launched the video model today. Premiere Pro (beta) adds Generative Extend to add frames on clips that are too short to help editors tell the story better. Text to video and image to video, also in beta, are now in the Firefly web application. Rich camera controls, such as angle, motion and zoom, are part of the tool.

Content credentials are added to Firefly video outputs to ensure transparency when AI is used.

Adobe Firefly video is ethically trained on Adobe Stock to be commercially safe. It does not infringe on other creator’s intellectual property.

Adobe Firefly video also creates 2d and 3-dimensional animations from text prompts. Vibrant text graphics and scenes can be built with the AI generation model. B-roll clips from prompts are available, too.

AI properties panels and more

Other additions to Premiere Pro include content-aware properties panels that bring the most needed tools into a single panel. Frame.io now has its own panel. ProRes exports are now up to three times faster — new color management and a fresh new design round out the updated features in this great video editor.

Photoshop: More power, precision and speed

Photoshop has been upgraded to use the new Firefly Image 3 model for Generative Fill, Generative Expand, Generate Similar, Generate Background and Generate Image.

Workflow improvements add OCIO color configuration, allowing movie-like color management. HDR workflow moves into 32-bit for ultra-high quality.

Automatic distraction removal

New to Photoshop is AI distraction removal. This feature targets unwanted people and (hooray!) powerlines and cables that clutter photos. I can hardly wait to use this!
