Apple Releases Media Filmed Exclusively for Vision Pro

It’s been a while since Apple released their new headset that was hailed as the next wave in media.

While that wave was perhaps smaller than initially expected, there’s little doubt that Cupertino is committed to its new product line with reports indicating lower-cost models are on the way and soon.

In the meantime, Apple has released a film, “Submerged,” created specifically to take advantage of the Vision Pro’s unique capabilities.

Directed by Edward Berger, “Submerged” helps users experience a glimpse of Apple’s vision for the future of film and media.

“Apple Immersive Video allows Apple Vision Pro users around the world to experience the next generation of sports, documentaries, and music performances. With Submerged, an immersive film from visionary director Edward Berger, we’re excited to premiere the next generation of narrative filmmaking… Vision Pro places you in the middle of the story — inside a densely packed submarine, shoulder to shoulder with its crew. That deep sense of immersion just wasn’t possible before, and we can’t wait to see how it inspires filmmakers to push the boundaries of visual storytelling,” Apple’s Vice President of Marketing Communications Tor Myhren explains.

Filmed in 3 weeks and running 15 minutes long, the film also, interestingly, used a camera specifically developed by Apple, Peta Pixel reports.

“[I]t’s a very new camera, specially developed by Apple. It’s a specially designed stereoscopic camera with microphones that are also, in a way, multidirectional. Don’t quote me on this, but I think it’s 64 directions or so that you mix, so you need to record Spatial Audio.”

Please comment below with any thoughts you might have on the future of filmmaking, given the capabilities of products such as Apple’s Vision Pro.
