Please keep in mind when reading and watching the video, I am not an expert with audio (or video) and this is just a layman’s review for a photographer in a small home studio. I don’t have any fancy gear when it comes to recording and editing audio and video.
Please note: Godox sent me the Cube-S Wireless Microphone Kit for review and keep, but all comments and opinions are my own.
I’ve put the Cube-S (Android Version) through some trials and am extremely happy with the outcome. With Samsung SS21 it worked really well, even at a distance. Even my initial tests, which I did in the backyard against ambient noise like, wind, birds, barking dogs (in the distance) and running and splashing water, worked a treat.

Godox Cube-S Microphone — In use
The whole system is plug and play. No setup is needed (on my Samsung S21 phone). The actual microphone is easy to wear and comfortable with the magnetic clip attachment. A great feature is the carrying case/docking station which acts as a charger, is super small and fits in your pocket or bag. If you only use one microphone, the other can stay fully charged. When you switch you have a freshly charged mic ready to go. It even recharges the mics twice in the charging case.
I have not had a chance to try two mics and to be honest I probably never will, as I don’t interview people, but being able to switch them out is great. I was impressed when I went out in the backyard and how clear my voice was against the background noise too. So this would be handy while shooting on location. It’s super handy to have in your bag and grab a microphone when required. Even from a small distance, there was no loss of audio and with ambient noise between me and the receiver, it made no difference.
The Godox Cube-S is available from Amazon and B&H. Watch the unboxing and audio sampling video below.
Godox Cube-S 2.4GHz Wireless Microphone System
When you consider the price of the Godox Cube-SC compared to similar in the market it offers amazing value and it just worked so well. I loved how easy it was to set up and use and the audio (for my purposes) was terrific. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wireless microphone for their Smartphone. The only reason I gave it 4.5 is I actually rarely use my smartphone and prefer the Godox XT1 for my camera for recording.
