We are super excited to announce the fifth annual Night Photo Summit! I will be offering a presentation on “Creating Compelling Foregrounds with Light Painting.”

What is it?

National Parks at Night holds night photography workshops that provide top-shelf education both in the classroom and in the field. They are arguably the best in the world at doing so. They have invited 35+ speakers to join in the fun of their Night Photo Summit.

The speakers at this online event will include night photographers, of course. Also speaking are authors, artists, astronomers and national park and dark-sky activists. They will speak about astronomy, dark skies, creativity and of course photo techniques — both in the field and post-processing. Presentations will include beginner, intermediate and advanced levels.

Last winter, nearly 400 photographers joined together for a long weekend of inspiration and camaraderie in a three-day virtual conference to celebrate everything we love about night photography. It was extraordinary. It was educational. It was fun!

Who are the speakers?

Besides me, Jennifer B. Bodine, Prince Berkoh, Sadeq Hayati, Katrina Brown, Marybeth Kiczenski, Tim Little, Susan Magnano, Brennen Nicole, Tyler Nordgren, Joshua Snow, Cody S. York, and others!

And of course, it includes National Parks at Night instructors Gabriel Biderman, Chris Nicholson, Lance Keimig, Matt Hill and Tim Cooper.

I drive long hours in a dusty car listening to weird music, stay out all night creating photos, get dirty, hang out with other creative sleep-deprived weirdos, see the stars drift across the sky and always find the best taco stands while photographing forgotten abandoned locales and amazing nightscapes.
